Make your travel experience unique by taking your pet with you. Below you will find all the information you need to best organise the transport of your furry friend.
Although we love all pets, it is not possible to transport every animal. These animals can travel with SkyAlps:
- Dogs of max. weight 8 kg (including transport bag);
- Cats of max. weight 8 kg (including transport bag);
- Ferrets;
- Singing birds;
- Rabbits;
- Guinea pigs and hamsters.
Emotional Support Animals (ESAN), even if certified, may only be transported if they meet the requirements listen on this page, in all other cases they are NOT allowed on board SkyAlps flights.
- Pets' maximum weight: 8 kg including transport bag/box.
- Pets' minimum age: 12 weeks.
- Domestic flights (departing from and arriving in Italy): a registered microchip and the animal’s health booklet (libretto sanitario) are mandatory. In addition, due to recent outbreaks, it is currently required that the rabies vaccination has been administered at least 21 days prior to the departure date.
- International flights (departing from or arriving abroad): a registered microchip, a European Pet Passport, and a rabies vaccination administered at least 21 days prior to the departure date are mandatory.
- The transport box, or travel bag, must be made of fabric, lined with absorbent material, fully closable and must allow the animal to move. Furthermore, the box/bag may not exceed the maximum dimensions of 45x23x45 cm or 45x42x20 cm. For the duration of the flight, the bag or box must remain closed and must be placed under the seat in front of you. Animals cannot be taken out of the bag/box during the flight.
- On a flight can be transported maximum 2 pets and each passenger may only be assigned one animal.
- On SkyAlps flights, pets may only be transported in the cabin. Under no circumstances animals are allowed to travel in the cargo hold.
It is possible to book the service directly online, while booking your ticket, or through SkyAlps Customer Service. It is also possible to add the service to your booking at a later date, either online or via the SkyAlps Customer Service. Animal transport costs 22,00 Euro per flight. Please note this service is not refundable.
Pets are NOT allowed on flights to and from the United Kingdom.
Certified assistance dogs can always travel free of charge with SkyAlps by wearing their distinctive harness for the duration of the flight. Reservations for this service can only be made through the SkyAlps Customer Service (reservation(at)skyalps.com - +39 0471 060950).
